Another Great Fish Finder Mount Review on Fish Finder Mounts .com Magnetic Boat Mount

Another Great Fish Finder Mount Review

Greetings fishing friends, just a quick blog entry to share a customer review:

Here's what our good friend Ron says about our Magnetic Fishfinder boat mount kit:

    • Subject : Satisfaction with my 2.9ah Universal Mounting System
    • Message : I was able to put my mount on my 14' john boat in about 2 minutes. It's so easy. I was finding fish in about 55' of water. I was using a 143 Humminbird locator and was pleased with the results that day. I would recommend this mounting system to any fisherman, bar none. It's the best on the market. The staff has been very helpful and courteous. Thanks! P.S.-Get the heavyduty magnets and that will give you peace of mind in knowing that your transducer will stay where you put it.

Porta Bote Fish Finder Installation and Mount

Porta Bote Fish Finder Installation and Mount

Sept 21, 2014

Greetings to all our Fishing Friends once again,

We hope you've had a good fishing season thus far.  We wanted to reach out to all the Porta Bote owners out there to let them have a look at a great fish finder mounting solution for their Porta Botes or Port-a-Boats.  We recently worked with another of our great customers ("Chen" in California) who has a Porta Bote.  He purchased our 2.9ah magnetic boat fish finder mount with our 15mm magnetic transducer mount.

This is a fabulous solution for the Porta-Boat, because again, there is no need to drill holes in the boat, or use glues when using this 15mm magnetic transducer mount from Fish Finder Mounts .com; and this is really an extra good thing in this case, because the boat is a fold up flexible plastic boat; so it's absolutely best not to drill holes in a flexible material such as with the Port-a-Boat.

So, instead of doing all the talking ourselves, we'll let Chen put the word out there - thank you Chen!

Here's what he had to say, and the photos he sent are also below:

"Hi Wade,
Happy Friday!
As promised, here are some pictures of the mount on my porta bote.
The mount worked great.  I transom mounted the transducer and went over 12mph with no issue (somehow the sonar pictures goes away when the speed passes 7mph, but i suspect it is a sonar issue).  i will try out the side mount this weekend and see how well that works.
The main unit/battery box fits the side really well. i was slightly worried about how well it will hold at first, but then after a while I developed total confidence in the unit--it wasn't going anywhere.  you do have to cut out a small piece of black flotation insert so the clamp will fit, but that took less than 10 seconds.
Only problem I had with that unit is that when i was going fast in choppy water, the side of the boat vibrated a lot (since the boat is made of flexible plastic sheets) and the vibration made reading the screen nearly impossible.  so for someone that regularly travels in a porta bote in high speed in choppy waters, perhaps one of your float tube mounts might suit them better since those can be strapped directly onto the benches.
all in all, it is a great unit and is something that I have been looking for a long time! Thanks for developing it and best of luck with everything!

Below are Chen's photos he kindly shared with us.  He has a Lowrance Elite 4x HDI fishfinder mounted on his Port-a-Boat:

I hope y'all enjoyed the post.  It is just another example of how versatile the fish finder mounting solutions from Fish Finder Mounts .com really are!

A New Fantastic Kayak Transducer Mounting Device

September 8th, 2014

The more I look around on the web to see what's out there for mounting or installing a fish finder transducer on a kayak, the more I get excited about the Kayak transducer mounting solution from Fish Finder Mounts .com & Float Tube Fanatics.  I think many of you are aware that there are all kinds of people doing all kinds of things, such as:  Glueing their transducers to the inside bottom floor area of their kayak for a "through hull" mounting position, Flex and solid brackets that are clamped from the top side of the kayak, extending off and down the side of the kayak - often affixed to some kind of track channel.  And there's myriads of different other DIY (do it yourself ) methods kayak fishermen have and do employ today.

I won't going into great detail about what the merits, difficulties, challenges or "issues" might be with each of these approaches; other than to say that if you can get the transducer into the water where it's designed to be, that is clearly the optimal way of getting the best sonar signal.  The other thing I would add, is many of the designs out there are arduous and difficult to install, and are certainly often bulky and clumsy looking.

Enter the Magnetic Transducer Mount from Fish Finder Mounts .com and Float Tube Fanatics.  Here you have a device that installs within a few seconds, does not require any permanent bonding methods such as glues or rods and screws, and yet is only about 3 inches by an 1 inch and a half in footprint (smaller than a business card ).  This Kayak transducer mount weighs less than half a pound, and yet competently installs a transducer on the side of your kayak using paired sets of super magnets acting as an invisible clamp.  And then when you are done for the day, easily remove it within a few seconds as when you installed it.  This fish finder transducer mount also has a pivoting linkage which allows you to swing the arm up with a twist of a simple thumb knob.  This allows the kayak fisherman the ability to tilt it up out of the water when they really want to keep drag to a minimum when they are not fishing but rather moving to a destination at full speed.  Oh, and the fasteners used in manufacturing the device are all 316 marine grade stainless steel.  It's machined and built here in North America, and it is as tough as nails, to last your fishing career.  So it can be said, and has been asserted that there are a plethora of advantages to this kayak transducer mounting solution.

If you want to install a fish finder transducer on a Kayak, this is really quite an awesome solution - and so easy to boot!  Here are some great videos showing how this new amazing innovative works, and showing it in action on the water, on a kayak.  Enjoy:

Here are few great emails from users of the magnetic transducer mount for kayaks commenting on this amazing kayak transducer mount:

May 31, 2014, from Jeff in Hayward, California:

Finally got out. Had a lot of work and family stuff going on. See the attached for the mount.  Works great, you could not have done better except maybe add a "fish bite now" button.

Take care,

Aug 13, 2013, from Jeffrey in San Diego, California:

Hey Wade,

Good to hear from you.  Yes, the transducer arms works great; sorry I didn’t let you know.  I'm hoping to take it out this weekend or next week and will get some pictures.  My boat has a weird shape / design to it, so it should be a good example of how well your design can work in different situations.

I'm not sure how you guys market, but I hear a lot of kayak guys that are not happy with their set ups.  There is a cool website called Big Waters Edge, which is pretty much a Southern CA kayak fishing site.  You might want to check it out.

Aug 14, 2014, from Jim in Harrisburg, PA

I attached some photos. As you will be able to see, I have my kayak all "pimped" out (so my kayak dealer calls it).  I have a Wilderness Experience, Pungo12 kayak.  It has a removable console where I have mounted my fish finder.  I was looking for a way to mount the transducer and then I came across your magnet device.  I mounted it on the on the shore so I could take some pictures.  I included some pictures of the results too.

Love your device.  I only wish I had thought of it.

That's all for now friends - will post again soon :)

Like our smaller capacity fish finder mounting systems, this kit has all the bells and whistles, plus it includes a 10 amp hour capacity rechargeable 12 volt battery to run your fishfinder - sounder & graphs all day long.  Manage your cabling neatly via our integrated cabling slots.  Even the gunnel clamp has machined scuff guards so you won't mark your friends or any rental boat, much less your own.  And our 7.5 inch by 3.5 swivel mounting plate rotates a full 360 degrees to allow you to set up your control head viewing angle to any position you prefer.

Do Not Drill Holes in Your Boat When Installing a Fish Finder Transducer!

New Fish Finder Mounts coming from Fish Finder Mounts .com & Float Tube Fanatics

We have some new fish finder mounting systems coming soon...

July 14th, 2014

Greetings Friends,

Apologies that it's been a while since our last post.

Some Thoughts on the Humminbird 386ci

I'm planning to do some nice fish finder reviews by the end of the season.  I have been playing around with and been using some products from both Humminbird and Lowrance recently; but I don't want to put a half baked review.  I want to be sure that the content I put on here helps people in their pragmatic purchasing decisions.  What I will say prior to moving onto some of our new product preludes here, is that I have been using the Humminbird 386ci, and my experience so far has been good.  I'm not a big fan of the Humminbird Piranhamax series because I find their user interfaces somewhat "clunky" if you will.  Plus I think their connectors tend to be on the cheaper side, without a positive lock mechanism.  But so far I have found the Humminbird 386ci menu system on the user interface well organized, and there's lots of tweakability.  Oh, yes, and I didn't much care for the mounting post through which all our cables must be routed.  This just isn't really necessary and creates more trouble than serenity in my opinion.  Here's a couple of pictures of my Outcast Super Fat Cat LCS with the 386ci mounted on our U3 5ah float tube fish finder mount:

Super Fat Cat LCS with Humminbird 386ci mounted

Outcast Super Fat Cat with Float Tube Fanatics U3 Float Tube Mount
& Humminbird 386ci Fish Finder

Anyhow, enough of that.  I really wanted to post what's coming up with our new mounting systems.  Let's start with this:

An Awesome New Fish Finder Mount for Inflatable Kayaks and Boats

We've had quite a few customers over time that have inflatable crafts, like, let's say "Zodiac" style inflatable boats.  Sometimes we've been able to support these customers reasonably well, in the cases where their air bladder extends past the transom somewhat; but at other times, these customers will have an inflatable kayak, or a similar water craft where there's no easy way to mount a fish finder or the transducer - due to the hull/bladder design.

Well, I think think the following pictures will give you a good view as to what we are planning.  This system leverages the Scotty 341 glue on mount for inflatable boats; and yes, we will be including this part in our mounting kit - so you may understand this aspect better, the web link is here:

Please remember, we don't do anything half hazard.  Instead we put quite a lot of thought into the fish finder mounting solutions we create for our customers.  What we always try to do, is to provide the best most practical solution for the boat owner that exists in the marketplace today.  One of our primary goals is to always try and offer something that gives the fisherman everything he/she needs to mount and power their fish finder (along with the transducer) straight out of the box.  Yes, sometimes this does involve other companies' product innovations as in this case:

Yet the question remains:  "how do you secure a transducer to a collapsible inflatable boat where you can't simply wrap a strap around the bladder like you can with a typical float tube or pontoon raft etc - like we've done for our belly boat / float tube and pontoon fish finder mounting designs.

It's here that I would like to mention a couple of boats that have come up quite a bit.  There have been quite of a few owners of the Sea Eagle 285 boat or similar designs from Sea Eagle.  Also, we've had quite a few inflatable kayak owners seeking help in mounting a fish finder to their inflatable boats.  We have supplied solutions to some of these customers, but albeit with a foreboding in our heart that we couldn't provide the best most intuitive design or solution that at the time we thought we could.  We'll we've got around to it now, so we are very excited to give you, our customers and fans a bit of a foreshadowing of how these systems will work and what they will look like.  They will be available for purchase on our websites: & soon.

So this is it, we have a new glue-on system where we will provide the best glue and the glue-on malleable base ( scotty 341glue on pad / base ); so no one has to figure it out on their own.  Once again, this keeps consistent with our company products mantra: "Everything you need to mount and power your fish finder straight out of the box."

Once this secondary glue on base is glued on in the preferred spot, our transducer mount slides into the mating plate for a removable transducer mount solution.  It's super easy to snap in, it's super strong, and it's super easy to take off again.  It really leverages our current float tube transducer design too; so if the user has a float tube they can go ahead and mount their transducer on their float tube as well (just add a strap).  The pictures below show the system with both a short base arm and also an extension arm piece, literally lthe user to extend the transducer mount for perceivably as long as would be needed to reach into the water.  We already currently sell the transducer arm extensions on our sites. Sound good?  Here's the next set of pictures to provide a glimpse on how the transducer mounting solution works for Zodiak or inflatable boats:

So that's a wrap for now friends.  We hope to get some photos of this new fish finder mounting system on an inflatable boat or two for your viewing pleasure soon.

Next Fish Finder Mount Blog Post Preview

Up, in the next day or so, I will be adding a new post providing you with a glimpse of our new and upcoming 7-1/2 x 3" mounting plate for extra large fish finders.  In concert with this new mounting plate we will be designing and selling a new super high capacity battery box to contain a high capacity battery in and around the 10-14 amp hour range.  This new fish finder mounting system will allow our customers to drive and run super large fish finders such as the Humminbird Onix and 800-900 series fish finders or the Lowrance HDS series, or the Garmin echoMAP or GPSMAP models.  Essentially this new super fish finder mount will support the super fish finders that are in the market today; allowing the user to easily "mount and power their fish finder of choice" with an All-In-One fish finder mounting solution.  It will also make these fish finders portable just the same way pretty much all our other mounting solutions work.  Please stay tuned and tight lines to all our fishing fanatical friends out there.

By the way, don't forget, you can subscribe to this blog by adding in your email at the top of the Blog whenever you like.  This will help you stay tuned without having to Google us every so often manually.  Oh, and we also have a great YouTube channel here, filled with numerous videos demonstrating our fish finder mounting products and solutions here: .  Please take some time and check it out - and subscribe if you like  :)

Real Customer Reviews on Float Tube Fanatics & Fish Finder Mounts .com Fish Finder Mounts

1) April 29th, 2014, from Gordy in Virginia

The magnetic transducer mount really rocks!  It also allows me the freedom to take my fish finder or not.  Your new stronger magnetic transducer mount will be great for double walled kayaks!  Keep up the great work!  Here is a sampling of some of the fish that I've caught while using the magnetic transducer mount with my electronics.

All the best,

3) January 5th, 2014, from Omar, Magnetic Transducer Mount

"Hi Wade
Used your transducer mount yesterday with great success. The product performs flawlessly. The same could not be said for my aging Hummingbird Piranhamax Portable. After 10 years of faithful service, it's time to upgrade. Couldn't get it to stay on and I need more than just a depth gauge.

Read your reviews along with various posts on the float tube forum and settled on the Lowrance Elite 4x DSI. Just need the remaining bits from your kit to get it going. I think the transducer mount I already got from you is universal so I might be set there.

Please let me know what is left? I'd like to get the latest long life battery pack and mounting bracket (U2?), and don't need the low profile model. If you could send me a list and the invoice like last time, that would be great."

That's all for now folks.  I will post more Float Tube Fanatics & Fish Finder Mounts .com fish finder mounting system reviews soon -- Wade.

Raymarine Dragonfly Fish Finder On A Float Tube

Raymarine Dragonfly Fish Finder On A Float Tube

Hi Friends,

A Raymarine update for you.  I thought you might like to see the Raymarine Dragonfly professionally mounted by Float Tube Fanatics on one of our customer's Fish Cat float tubes.  We want to extend our thanks to Ricardo (aka. Rick) in California for these awesome photos.  He has an awesome float tube set up:

You can see the Raymarine Dragonfly transducer on the right side
The control head is mostly obscured by the rod holder

We now have a larger power capacity fish finder mount model called the U3.  We recommend this mount for the Raymarine Dragonfly, as this fish finder does draw 500 watts RMS.  This new model looks identical to the one above, yet is slightly larger, and heavier by just 1lb - yet the new U3 fish finder mount will provide the user with almost 2x the run time.  To get yours now click here:!product/prd1/1619659475/u3-float-tube-mount%2C-5ah--lrg-finders-(ffm-)

And again, here's a refresher on what the Raymarine Dragonfly transducer looks like mounted.  This one is on a canoe:

A Powerful Universal Fish Finder Mount - Make Any Fish Finder Portable Now!

A New More Powerful Universal Fish Finder Mount With Integrated Power is Here!

It took too long, but we finally did it.

Our first universal fish finder mounting systems included and 2.9 amp hour power source.  These are amazing solutions for making pretty much any compact fish finder from Lowrance, Humminbird, Garmin and Raymarine into a portable fish finder.  We have Float Tube, Pontoon and Boat fish finder mounts with this power configuration; but now we've stepped it up!

We now have finally released our higher powered 5 amp hour models.  Now those of you who want to mount larger higher powered fish finders, have even a better solution than before.  This new battery box platform is the same awesome design, yet it is about 25% larger, and about 1 lb heavier; but again, the user is getting a full 2.1 amp hours more of power capacity.

We chose a 5 amp hour battery because it allowed us not to give too much up in the way of form factor and portability, yet the user still gets almost double the power capacity.  These new universal fish finder mounting solutions are offered again in both the boat and the tube versions. Get yours now at these links:

Here's a video to give you a closer look:

So there we have it folks.  Our new higher powered mounts are now available to you.  We'll be back soon, but until then, All the best of life to you all :)
